For detailed local rules to eFiling, please go to courts online. Find and follow the link to the jurisdiction rules you are interested in.
Documents:
Size: The maximum size allowed for each document is 4MB. The maximum total size allowed for all documents together is 40MB. If your individual document is over 4MB, simply break them apart and file them as individual exhibits. You could also consider rescanning the document at a lower resolution.
Type: MyFileRunner accepts Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, html, .rtf, .rtf, html,.txt files and .pdf files. Once you upload the documents, MyFileRunner automatically converts the documents to a .pdf format.
Quantity of Pleadings per eFiling: Only one pleading can be eFiled at a time. If you have additional pleadings, they need to be eFiled separately.
Orders:
eFiling orders: When efiling orders, you must attach the order as a supporting document, not as the lead document. The lead document is the one that receives the file stamp, judges do not want an unsigned order file stamped. If you only have the order to submit, then you should create a cover letter to be the lead document. Note that Brazoria only accepts a cover letter (not a motion) as the lead documents when submitting an order. Randall does not accept orders at all.
Signatures:
Wet Signatures: The Judicial Committee on Information Technology (JCIT) recommends that, for any filing that includes a verified pleading as either the lead document or an attachment, the filer also sign the lead document. The filer can apply a “digitized signature” or a scanned wet signature. Local Rule 2.1(c) defines digitized signature as "...a graphic image of a handwritten signature."
The local rules also state that other documents, such as affidavits, will require a wet (scanned) signature.
Digital Signatures: Local Rules (Rule 4.2) states that your eFiling userID and password serves as your electronic Signature. You no longer need to actually assign a digital signatures to these documents.
System:
Browser: Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater; Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or greater. You can use other browsers, and some of our customers do, but MyFileRunner and TexasOnline do not guarantee the success as we do not test or develop for those browsers.
Pop-Up Blockers: The document uploading page utilizes pop-up technology. Once you are logged into MyFileRunner, click "tools" on your Internet Explorer menu bar. Go to “"Pop-Up Blockers" and choose to allow pop up blockers from the MyFileRunner site.
Email Spam Filters: You will be receiving notifications from two email addresses: efiling@texasonline.state.tx.us and efiling@myfilerunner.com. It is important that both of these addresses are added to your safe sender list. If not, you may not receive clerk notifications of your eFilings.
